Skiing at Vogel

Vogel Ski Center is the closest major ski area to Lake Bohinj and one of the most popular winter destinations in the Julian Alps. A cable car takes you from the valley floor up above 1,500 metres, where you are greeted by stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

Vogel offers groomed slopes for all skill levels — from gentle runs for beginners to more challenging terrain for experienced skiers and snowboarders. The ski season typically runs from December through April, depending on snow conditions.

Beyond downhill skiing, Vogel is also a great starting point for winter tours into the high mountains. On clear days, the summit offers panoramic views of Triglav and the entire valley below.

After-ski wellness

After a full day on the slopes, you deserve proper relaxation. At Resman, you have access to a private wellness area with a jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, and infrared sauna. The warm water and steam will ease tired muscles and get you ready for another day on the snow.

The wellness facilities are available by prior arrangement with an additional charge. They are open to both our guests and external visitors — simply get in touch ahead of time to book a slot.

Winter activities beyond skiing

Bohinj in winter offers much more than just alpine skiing. The area around the lake is a true haven for winter nature lovers:

• Cross-country skiing — groomed trails run along the lake and through the valley, suitable for both classic and skating techniques.
• Winter hiking — many paths along the lake and through the surrounding forests are pleasant to walk year-round. The trail along the northern shore of the lake is particularly popular.
• Snowshoeing — strap on snowshoes and explore trails that are hiking paths in summer but take on an entirely different character under a blanket of snow.
• Mostnica Gorge — in winter, the gorge transforms with ice formations and frozen waterfalls. Access is at your own risk; proper footwear is strongly recommended.
• Ice skating on the lake — when conditions allow and the lake freezes sufficiently, ice skating is possible. This is at your own risk; always check local information about ice thickness before venturing out.

Practical winter information

If you are driving to Bohinj, make sure your car is equipped for winter conditions. Winter tyres are mandatory in Slovenia from 15 November to 15 March (or whenever road conditions require them). We also recommend carrying snow chains, especially during heavier snowfall.
